Kundalini Yoga is a powerful technique that until the late 60’s was known mostly to Indian Masters. In 1969 Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini and Hatha Yoga, moved to the USA and started to teach immediately. By breaking the tradition of secrecy he opened the gate of this ancient knowledge to the western practitioner. He was a pioneer. he said: “The Age of Aquarius recognizes no religion, only whether a person is with experience or without experience. Find your spiritual frequency, your spiritual efficiency and your spiritual existence within you.” . All that was hidden in the age of Pisces was reveled with his teachings. This was his was to connect others to the spirit of the Aquarian age.
The practice of Kundalini Yoga includes Asanas, Bhandas, Mantras, Pranayama and Meditation. The purpose is to awaken the Kundalini energy, which is latent at the base of our spin. When it is released it runs up along the spinal cord and opens our chakras. This can bring a new state of consciousness, awaken our creative potential as human beings and help us live our life in a healthy, happy and holy way.
Kundalini Yoga was taught by Yogi Bhajan as a practice for the householder and everyone can find something to practice, according to their physical ability.For me practicing Kundalini Yoga is a continues life changing experience and a gift for which I shall be forever grateful.
